Pak-India tensions Strengthened Pakistan’s defense capability and credibility: global journal

ISLAMABAD Dec 28: An international journal, Carolina Political Review, has stated that Pakistan regained an important position in global politics in 2025, and that the Pakistan–India tensions in May strengthened Pakistan’s defensive capabilities and international credibility.

According to the journal, Pakistan restored Washington’s confidence through effective diplomacy, giving bilateral relations a new direction. The United States now views Pakistan as a key bridge for access to South Asia, the Gulf region, and Central Asia, while Pakistan’s geostrategic importance has once again been placed at the center of US policy. Pakistani ports, particularly Gwadar in Balochistan, were described as a major strategic asset.

The report noted that Pakistan opened new economic pathways by maintaining a multilateral balance alongside the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). It added that in November, the Trump administration published its national security strategy, in which Pakistan is expected to be a key US ally in achieving American national security interests.

The journal said that recent changes in Pakistan–US relations have drawn global media attention. During the Pakistan–India standoff, the United States was compelled to play an active role in de-escalation. Former President Donald Trump’s statement on Kashmir was described as support for Pakistan’s diplomatic positioning and stance.

According to the report, Pakistan gained a psychological edge on the diplomatic front, while India lagged behind. Through lobbying and policy engagement, bilateral ties were shifted from a “war on terror” framework toward an economy- and strategy-focused relationship. Pakistan and the United States reportedly signed multiple deals worth $500 million in the minerals, refining, and processing sectors.

The journal further reported that the US Export-Import Bank approved $1.25 billion in financing for mining and mineral development projects, including the Reko Diq project in Balochistan. It concluded that Pakistan’s re-engagement with the United States has moved bilateral relations toward what it described as a relationship based on “sustainable interests.”
