Bajaur operation: five militants killed, army major martyred

ISLAMABAD Dec 29: Bajaur, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa — Pakistan’s security forces killed five Indian-sponsored militants during an intelligence-based operation in the Khar area of Bajaur district, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Monday.

According to ISPR, a fierce exchange of fire took place during the operation, in which Major Adil Zaman embraced martyrdom while leading troops from the front. He belonged to Dera Ismail Khan.

The military’s media wing stated that Major Adil Zaman fought bravely and made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

ISPR further said that weapons and ammunition were recovered from the killed militants, who were involved in attacks against security forces as well as the killing of innocent civilians.

The statement reaffirmed that Pakistan’s security forces remain determined to eliminate terrorism and that such sacrifices further strengthen the nation’s resolve against militancy.
