Iran-US Talks Hit Dead End as Pakistan Awaits Crucial Response

Mazaj News (Web Desk) Early diplomatic exchanges between Iran and the United States, facilitated through Pakistan, have failed to resolve the ongoing impasse. Islamabad is now waiting for a revised proposal from Tehran, hoping it may help bring an end to the conflict that has already disrupted global oil supplies and raised concerns about the world economy.

Uncertainty continues to grow as both Tehran and Washington send conflicting signals.

US President Donald Trump shared a provocative post on his Truth Social platform, featuring a stylized image of himself holding a weapon and wearing aviator sunglasses, accompanied by the phrase, “NO MORE MR. NICE GUY,” alongside the American flag. In a separate message, he criticized Iran’s inability to finalize a non-nuclear agreement, warning that it needs to act wisely and quickly.

Despite such rhetoric, there are indications that quiet diplomatic channels remain active in an effort to avoid further escalation.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif provided fresh insight into Pakistan’s mediation role. Speaking to the cabinet, he revealed that Iran’s Foreign Minister, after visiting Islamabad twice and traveling onward to Oman and Russia, had briefed him over the phone. According to the prime minister, the Iranian side has held detailed consultations and is expected to present its response soon, though no specifics were disclosed.

His remarks suggest that Tehran has yet to deliver a comprehensive proposal outlining a path toward ending the conflict.

At the international level, Pakistan reiterated its stance at the United Nations Security Council, emphasizing adherence to international law and peaceful conflict resolution, while continuing efforts to promote stability in the Middle East.

Pakistan’s representative to the UN stressed that the core issue behind regional instability remains the unresolved Palestinian question and the ongoing Israeli occupation of Arab territories. He argued that a just and lasting peace can only be achieved through the establishment of a Palestinian state under a two-state solution.

Highlighting the gravity of the humanitarian situation, he noted that over 800 Palestinians have reportedly been killed in Israeli strikes since the ceasefire announcement. He underscored the urgent need to uphold the ceasefire and ensure consistent and expanded delivery of humanitarian aid to those affected.
