ISLAMABAD Dec 22: New details have emerged in the investigation into the deadly attack at Bondi Beach in Sydney, as Australian police submitted key documents to the court.
According to investigation reports, the attackers — Indian-origin citizen Sajid Akram and his son Naveed Akram — had received tactical training inside Australia. The documents reveal that both suspects had also visited Bondi Beach a day before carrying out the attack.
Police stated that a video recovered from one of the attacker’s mobile phones shows both suspects sitting in front of an ISIS flag. In a video recorded in October, the two were seen expressing extremist and anti-Jewish sentiments.
Media reports further confirmed that Naveed Akram, who was injured during the attack, has now been transferred from hospital to jail.
Meanwhile, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has urged parliament to fully support new legislation aimed at tackling extremism and hate speech.
It is worth noting that last week’s shooting attack at Bondi Beach, during a Jewish religious event, resulted in the deaths of 15 people. The main attacker, Sajid Akram, was killed at the scene, while his son Naveed Akram survived with injuries.
The investigation continues as authorities work to uncover further links and prevent future extremist violence.
