Bilawal urges PTI to abandon extremist politics

ISLAMABAD Dec 28: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) should abandon the politics of extremism, adding that if attacks are made on state institutions following the arrest of its leader or court cases, then complaints over state action are unjustified.

Talking to media representatives in Larkana, Bilawal said that political parties must find political solutions for the survival of democracy. Given the current situation, he stressed that President Asif Ali Zardari should play a role in bringing all political forces to a common point.

He reiterated that resorting to violence or attacking national institutions over arrests and legal cases cannot be defended. According to him, dialogue and political maturity are the only way forward for the country.

Responding to a question, Bilawal said that early elections are not taking place, and that electoral reforms are necessary before any new elections, so that the process gains the confidence of all stakeholders.

Speaking on the economy, he said that the real test of economic conditions is the situation of the common citizen. He added that asking ordinary people about their financial well-being reflects the true state of the economy. To address the economic crisis, he suggested that the federal government should consider public-private partnerships.
