Mazaj News: Two Pakistani candidates have been shortlisted for the country’s Human Spaceflight Programme after completing the secondary selection phase at China’s Astronauts Centre, the ISPR said on Saturday.
According to the military’s media wing, the candidates cleared medical, psychological and aptitude assessments in China following initial screening in Pakistan. Under a Pakistan–China agreement signed in February 2025, both will undergo six months of advanced training, after which one astronaut will be selected to fly to China’s Tiangong space station later in 2026.
The ISPR said the programme marks a major milestone for Pakistan’s space ambitions, noting that China has chosen Pakistan as the first foreign partner in its astronaut programme, allowing the selected astronaut to conduct scientific experiments aboard the space station.
