ISLAMABAD Dec20: Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has said that the sentences awarded to PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in the Toshakhana-II case will begin after the completion of their sentence in the 190 million pound case.
Speaking to Geo News, the information minister termed the Toshakhana-II verdict as based on justice, stating that Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi had allegedly undervalued gifts worth millions of rupees, causing significant financial loss to the state.
Attaullah Tarar said that by deliberately declaring a much lower value of the gifts, the accused paid less money to the government and retained the gifts for personal use, resulting in a loss of millions of rupees to the national exchequer.
He further stated that Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi’s 17-year sentence in the Toshakhana-II case will commence after the completion of the 14-year sentence in the 190 million pound case.
Political Reactions
Federal Minister and MQM-Pakistan leader Mustafa Kamal also commented on the verdict, calling the Toshakhana-II case an “open-and-shut case.”
He said the case had set an important precedent for future governments, emphasizing that those in positions of power must exercise caution and accountability.
Mustafa Kamal described the matter as a source of national embarrassment, referring to allegations involving Bushra Bibi and saying that the incident allegedly took place at the former prime minister’s residence. He added that even if Imran Khan claimed ignorance, responsibility still lay with him.
He further remarked that society often prioritizes glamour over character, expressing hope that the verdict would lead to positive outcomes in the future.
