RAHIM YAR KHAN: President Asif Ali Zardari emphasized that true leaders must be ready to struggle and even face imprisonment to protect their party and serve the people.
Speaking to party ticket-holders, office-bearers, and workers in Jamaldinwali on Saturday night, Zardari indirectly criticized Imran Khan, noting that some leaders begin complaining about conditions in jail after a short period of detention. He mentioned complaints about eye pain or lack of milk as examples, saying such behavior reflects a lack of courage and willingness to sacrifice.
Reflecting on his own experience, Zardari recalled spending 14 years behind bars, enduring hardships without losing resolve. “Jail is a place of worship, and the prayers of the devoted are answered,” he said, encouraging party workers not to fear arrests.
Zardari reaffirmed his commitment to developing Pakistan and stated that he would continue working until his mission is accomplished. He expressed confidence that one day the Pakistan Peoples Party would secure a two-thirds majority and make Bilawal Bhutto Zardari the prime minister.
On the issue of privatization, the president stressed that national assets belong to the people and should not be sold. He arrived at Shaikh Zayed Airport earlier in the day and traveled to Jamaldinwali, the home area of Makhdoom Ahmad Mahmood, where he is scheduled to stay for the next two days.
