Pakistan will take part in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, but the national team will not play the match against India on February 15. This decision comes after ICC and India treated Bangladesh unfairly, said PCB.
The Government of Pakistan has allowed the team to join the tournament. Even with all the precautions, Pakistan decided not to play India but will play the other matches.
On Sunday, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to talk about Pakistan’s participation. The government said on social media that Pakistan will play in the World Cup but skip the India match.
Pakistan is in Group A with India, Netherlands, USA and Namibia. The first match for Pakistan is on February 7 against Netherlands, and the big Pakistan-India match is planned for February 15 in Colombo.
Skipping the India match is also a protest in support of Bangladesh. The problem between ICC and Bangladesh has been going on for about three weeks. Because of India’s pressure, ICC rejected Bangladesh’s requests, removed them from the tournament, and replaced them with Scotland. Four Bangladesh matches were in Kolkata, but after threats from extremists, fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman was pulled from the IPL.Pakistan team is scheduled to fly to Colombo tomorrow.
