Mazaj News (Web Desk) Pakistan’s Foreign Office on Thursday strongly condemned India for what it called a renewed campaign of baseless allegations and propaganda, attempting to link Pakistan to the April 2025 Pahalgam incident.
In an official statement, the Foreign Office said it was unfortunate that at a time when Pakistan, along with its international partners, is actively engaged in diplomatic efforts for regional and global peace, India has once again chosen to promote unfounded claims regarding the Pahalgam attack.
The response followed remarks made by the Indian Army on the anniversary of the incident.
The two neighboring countries were involved in a brief but intense conflict in May last year after India carried out what Pakistan described as an unprovoked attack. This followed the deadly assault on tourists in Pahalgam, located in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, which resulted in 26 fatalities.
India accused Pakistan of being behind the attack without presenting concrete evidence. Pakistan rejected these claims and called for an independent and impartial investigation.
Following the accusations, India launched missile strikes inside Pakistan, leading to the deaths of civilians and security personnel. In response, Pakistan stated that it shot down seven Indian fighter jets, including three Rafale aircraft, multiple drones, and destroyed an S-400 air defense system.
The conflict between the two nuclear-armed nations ended on May 10 after a ceasefire agreement mediated by the United States.
In its latest statement, the Foreign Office said India continues to push what it described as a false narrative for domestic political purposes, despite ongoing regional tensions. It added that such allegations are part of a broader attempt to divert international attention from India’s own actions.
The statement further said that these claims cannot shift global focus away from the situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, including what it described as the denial of the right to self-determination to the people of the region, in violation of United Nations resolutions.
It also accused India of undermining regional stability through inflammatory rhetoric, repeated provocations, and aggressive military posture, including its unilateral move to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty, which Pakistan says violates international law.
Pakistan urged the international community to call on India to act responsibly and avoid actions or statements that could disrupt ongoing efforts aimed at maintaining regional and international peace.
A day earlier, Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar also criticized India for failing to provide credible evidence to support its allegations. In a televised statement, he said India had ignored calls for an independent investigation and described the incident as a possible false flag operation.
Tarar added that even after a year, India has not provided satisfactory answers regarding the Pahalgam attack and continues to promote a narrative driven by flawed reasoning and political motives.
