Mazaj News (Web Desk) The federal capital was placed on a strict ‘red alert’ as it prepared to host crucial peace negotiations between the United States and Iran. To ensure the safety of visiting delegations, more than 10,000 security personnel, including police and law enforcement agencies, were deployed across the city.
According to sources, a comprehensive multi-layered security plan has been put in place under the supervision of the military, with support from paramilitary forces such as Rangers, along with Islamabad and Punjab police. Traffic management will be handled by the Islamabad Traffic Police and the National Highways and Motorway Police to maintain smooth vehicular movement.
The deployment includes around 6,000 personnel from Islamabad Police, 900 from the Frontier Constabulary, and 3,000 from the Punjab Constabulary, in addition to Rangers and Pakistan Army troops. Nearly 1,000 traffic wardens have also been assigned duties across key routes.
Security of the Red Zone and other sensitive areas will be jointly managed by the army and Rangers. Troops have been stationed at critical government buildings, while Quick Response Force units have been positioned at strategic locations. Additional security presence has also been ensured in the Margalla Hills.
All entry points to the Red Zone will remain closed, except Margalla Road, which will only be accessible to authorized personnel and residents.
Special routes have been designated for the movement of foreign delegates from the airport to their accommodations. These routes will be fully secured, with personnel deployed on both sides. Delegates will be provided full ‘Blue Book’ protocol during their stay.
Close protection teams assigned to VVIPs will not be permitted to carry any electronic devices, including mobile phones and smartwatches.
Authorities have directed strict monitoring to prevent unauthorized access to high-security zones and event venues. The capital administration will oversee emergency services, including fire brigades and ambulances, ensure proper lighting on routes, maintain road infrastructure, and manage catering arrangements.
Due to heightened security, major roads including Faisal Avenue up to Zero Point and the Expressway up to Koral Chowk will remain closed. Traffic will also face restrictions during the movement of delegations.
Commuters traveling from sectors G-5, G-6, and F-6 towards Rawalpindi have been advised to use 9th Avenue. Traffic from Faisal Avenue to Zero Point will also be diverted to 9th Avenue. Meanwhile, vehicles heading to Rawalpindi from Bhara Kahu will be rerouted via Korang Road and Banigala, while those traveling towards Faizabad from I.J.P. Road will be redirected to Stadium Road through the 9th Avenue signal.
