Indonesia defence cooperation: PAF training support discussed

ISLAMABAD: Indonesia defence cooperation received a boost as Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto expressed interest in benefiting from the Pakistan Air Force’s (PAF) advanced training and aerospace infrastructure, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Friday.

The remarks came during a meeting with Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, who is on an official visit to Indonesia.

According to ISPR, President Prabowo showed keen interest in leveraging the PAF’s state-of-the-art training ecosystem and aerospace development setup to strengthen Indonesia’s defence capabilities. The air chief highlighted the longstanding brotherly ties between the two countries.

During the visit, ACM Sidhu also held meetings with Indonesia’s defence minister and senior military leadership. Both sides discussed expanding air force-to-air force collaboration, joint training programmes and cooperation in emerging aerospace fields.

In recognition of his efforts to enhance Indonesia defence cooperation, ACM Sidhu was awarded the Indonesian Air Force’s highest honour, the Medal of Honour.

ISPR said the Indonesian leadership appreciated the PAF’s professionalism, modernisation drive and technological advancements under the National Aerospace Science and Technology Park.
