RAWALPINDI: A panel of specialist physicians carried out a medical check-up of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan at Adiala Jail on Sunday, sources told Geo News, as strict security measures remained in place around the prison.
Imran Khan, who has claimed that he has lost nearly 85% of vision in his right eye due to a health issue, was granted access to medical specialists following directives from the Supreme Court. Earlier this week, his counsel Salman Safdar met him in jail and subsequently presented a report before a bench headed by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi, outlining health concerns and seeking appropriate medical treatment for his client.
Sources revealed that an ambulance equipped with eye examination instruments has been stationed inside the jail premises to facilitate medical assessments.
An initial health report regarding the PTI founder’s condition has been forwarded to the Punjab Home Department, according to jail officials. The report contains a comprehensive record of his blood pressure, blood sugar levels, cholesterol, and other key health indicators. Additionally, a separate evaluation focusing specifically on his eye condition has been submitted from Rawalpindi.
Details of medical consultations and the doctors involved in his care have also been documented. The report specifies the dates of examinations and the names of the attending physicians, along with all relevant medical information.
Prison authorities stated that on-duty doctors conduct routine check-ups and monitor vital signs three times daily, maintaining a consistent record of his health status.
The Punjab Home Department had earlier requested a detailed medical report from the Adiala Jail administration regarding Imran Khan’s condition.
