ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday announced financial compensation for victims of the imambargah suicide attack that took place in Islamabad last week.
The prime minister made the announcement during his visit to the site of the imambargah suicide attack, which targeted Friday worshippers at Imambargah Qasr-i-Khadijatul Kubra on February 6. At least 38 people were martyred and more than 150 were injured in the tragic incident.
Under the compensation package, Rs10 million will be given to Oun Abbas for resisting the attacker, Rs5 million to the family of each martyr, Rs3 million to those critically injured and under treatment, and Rs1 million to those with minor injuries who have been discharged.
Addressing the affected families, PM Shehbaz said the nation was deeply saddened by the imambargah suicide attack, calling it a barbaric act. “These terrorists have no religion and have crossed all limits of cruelty,” he said.
The prime minister added that religious leaders across the country had strongly condemned the imambargah suicide attack and stood united against attempts to create division in society.
