Manenti was particularly aggressive, blasting 60 off just 25 deliveries, including four fours and six towering sixes, before Will Jacks broke the stand.
Justin Mosca also made a valuable 43 from 34 balls, striking seven boundaries, but was dismissed by Adil Rashid at a key moment. Italy’s middle order then faltered as Sam Curran removed Marcus Campopiano and Gian-Piero Meade in quick succession, reducing them to 138-7.
Grant Stewart reignited hopes with a counterattacking 45 off 23 balls, smashing five sixes and two fours.
