Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to Attend Inaugural US President Donald Trump‑Led Board of Peace Session in Washington on February 19
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to take part in the **first session of the US President Donald Trump‑led Board of Peace on February 19 in Washington, DC, sources told Geo News on Tuesday.
Officials confirmed that the Government of Pakistan has formally notified the Gaza Peace Board about the prime minister’s planned attendance at the inaugural meeting. The event, initially reported by US news outlet Axios, is set to also function as a fundraising conference for Gaza’s reconstruction. The session will be held at the US Institute of Peace.
“We can confirm the Board of Peace meeting is scheduled on February 19th,” an official said in a statement to Reuters.
Last month, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi stated that Pakistan would continue its involvement in international initiatives focused on achieving peace and security in Gaza. He emphasized that Pakistan aims to support efforts leading to a lasting resolution of the Palestinian issue in line with United Nations resolutions.
Pakistan has repeatedly underscored at global platforms its willingness to play a positive and constructive role in the US‑led peace plan for Palestine.
The new peace board was launched by US President Donald Trump at the World Economic Forum in Davos in late January. During the launch, world leaders, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, joined Trump in endorsing the board’s founding charter. The initiative brings together senior leaders and officials from 19 countries, including key Trump allies from Argentina and Hungary, to pursue a comprehensive and sustainable peace agreement for Gaza.
