Mazaj News (Web Desk) Pakistan has extended its restriction on Indian aircraft using its airspace for another month by issuing a fresh NOTAM.
According to the Pakistan Airports Authority, all Indian-registered, leased, commercial, and military aircraft will remain prohibited from entering Pakistani airspace until 5:00 AM on May 24, 2026.
The ban has been in place since April 2025 and continues to cause significant financial losses for Indian airlines.
Pakistan originally imposed the restriction after India suspended the Indus Waters Treaty following rising tensions in the aftermath of the Pahalgam incident in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). Pakistan has rejected the allegations and called for a transparent investigation.
In response, India also closed its airspace to Pakistani aircraft on April 30, 2025.
During heightened tensions in May 2025, India conducted strikes on multiple Pakistani cities. Pakistan responded with a large-scale counter-operation named “Operation Bunyanum Marsoos,” targeting several Indian military sites.
Pakistan also reportedly downed several Indian fighter jets and drones. The conflict between the two nuclear-armed countries ended on May 10 after a ceasefire agreement brokered by the United States.
Aviation analysts note that the airspace closure has impacted Indian airlines more severely, while the effect on Pakistan’s aviation sector has been relatively limited.
