Dubai | February 8, 2026 : Senate Chairman Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has emphasized that parliaments play a vital and indispensable role in promoting global peace, dialogue, and mutual trust.
He was speaking as the chief guest at a ceremony held in Dubai on the occasion of the appointment of Syed Kashif Ali as the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Moldova to Pakistan.
Congratulating Syed Kashif Ali, the Senate chairman said the establishment of Moldova’s honorary consulate in Pakistan marks an important milestone in strengthening diplomatic, economic, and institutional ties between the two countries and will help expand bilateral cooperation.
Highlighting Pakistan’s growing role in parliamentary diplomacy, Gilani said parliaments provide an effective platform for global dialogue, confidence-building, and long-term international cooperation.
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to enhancing cooperation with Moldova in various sectors, including trade, agriculture, defense, pharmaceuticals, health, information technology, education, and professional training.
Referring to his leadership in global parliamentary diplomacy, Gilani noted that as the founding chairman of the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC), he continues to promote cooperation and engagement among parliaments worldwide.
He also welcomed Cambodia’s announcement to host the second ISC conference later this year, calling it evidence of the forum’s growing global importance and Pakistan’s vision.
Diplomats and international representatives attending the event praised Senate Chairman Gilani’s contributions toward promoting dialogue and cooperation at the global level.
The ceremony concluded with the expression of hope that the newly established honorary consulate would serve as a strong bridge of friendship, cooperation, and partnership between Pakistan and the Republic of Moldova.
