Mazaj News (Web Desk) Qatar has expressed concern over the risk of a prolonged “frozen conflict” in the Gulf region, as negotiations between the United States and Iran aimed at reaching a peace agreement appear to have stalled.
Speaking at a press briefing on Tuesday, Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed al-Ansari said the region must avoid a return to open hostilities in the near future. He also warned against a situation where tensions remain unresolved and periodically flare up due to political developments.
“We do not want to see a return to hostilities in the region anytime soon, nor do we want a frozen conflict that is repeatedly reactivated whenever there is a political trigger,” he said.
His remarks come amid growing uncertainty over US-Iran talks, which have so far failed to produce a breakthrough toward de-escalation in the Gulf.
