Mazaj News (Web Desk) Higher Education Commission (HEC) is preparing to launch a blockchain-based digital attestation system that will allow students and graduates to verify their degrees online without physically visiting offices or submitting paper documents, according to a report by The News International.
Officials stated that the new platform will enable users to submit attestation requests digitally and monitor the status of their applications in real time. The system is being developed in collaboration with CMPak and its joint venture partner Wibbow Technologies.
Under the planned rollout, students—particularly those living in remote areas or abroad—are expected to benefit from faster processing, reduced paperwork, and easier access to verified academic credentials. The platform is scheduled to become operational by June 30.
Earlier in February, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly of Pakistan on Government Assurances urged the HEC to shorten the processing time for degree attestation, noting that the existing system was complicated and financially burdensome for students.
During discussions on the implementation of an assurance given by the Education Minister in the National Assembly regarding attestation issues, the committee stressed the need to significantly reduce delays in application processing.
The HEC chairman informed the committee that a secure, comprehensive blockchain-based system was being developed as part of a broader digital transformation initiative. He said the platform aims to resolve the concerns raised and improve efficiency.
He further added that the project is expected to be fully operational by June 30, 2026, initially connecting 25 universities and the Attestation Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pakistan. The committee also requested a joint briefing from both HEC and the Foreign Office on the attestation system.
