In addition, both retired judges are receiving substantial monthly pensions.

Justice Mansoor Ali Shah is receiving a total monthly pension of Rs 1,135,496, including a driver pension of Rs 91,258 and medical allowances amounting to Rs 57,249.
The Ministry of Law had earlier increased the house rent allowance to Rs 350,000 and the “Superior Judicial Allowance” to over Rs 1.1 million. Justice Mansoor Ali Shah served for over 16 years, while Justice Athar Minallah served for more than 11 years as judges. Both resigned after the approval of the 27th Constitutional Amendment.
Under the “Supreme Court Judges Order, 1997,” both former judges are also entitled to post-retirement privileges, including medical facilities, official residence, full staff, capped utility bills, a government vehicle with fuel, security and immunity, flag protocol, and benefits for their spouses.
It is noteworthy that in November last year, the federal government significantly increased the salaries and allowances of superior court judges. According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice, Supreme Court judges’ house rent allowance was increased from Rs 68,000 to Rs 350,000, while the Superior Judicial Allowance was raised from Rs 428,040 to Rs 1,161,163.
Justice Mansoor Ali Shah served a total of 16 years, one month, and 26 days, while Justice Athar Minallah served for 11 years, four months, and 24 days. Both judges resigned from the Supreme Court in November 2025 in protest against the 27th Constitutional Amendment, which they stated had effectively weakened the powers of the Supreme Court. Their resignations were formally accepted by President Asif Ali Zardari on November 14, 2025.
