SWIZERLAND Jan 1: At least 10 people were killed and several others injured after a powerful explosion struck a bar at a luxury ski resort in Switzerland on New Year’s Night, according to media reports.
Swiss police said the blast occurred at a bar in the renowned ski resort of Crans-Montana, causing extensive damage to the premises. At the time of the explosion, a large number of people were present inside the bar celebrating New Year’s Eve.
Initially, police officials did not confirm the exact number of casualties or the cause of the explosion. However, subsequent media reports stated that at least 10 people lost their lives and around 10 others were injured. The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals for medical treatment.
According to police, the explosion took place at around 1:30 a.m. on the night between Wednesday and Thursday at the popular tourist destination. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the blast.
