PM Shehbaz Claims Strong Evidence of TTP and Afghan Taliban Ties

Mazaj News (Web Desk) Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, once again referring on Friday to the “nexus” between the proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Tehreek-e-Taliban Afghanistan (TTA), said that Pakistan has “solid evidence” that all kinds of resources are being provided to them by “our enemy.”

Speaking to members after a meeting with the National Message of Peace Committee, the Prime Minister referred to the country’s role in the war against terrorism and said, “The world should thank Pakistan that we made such great sacrifices and not only eliminated terrorists but also protected other countries from them. Today, this menace has raised its head again.”

He further said: “They are Khawarij. As for the nexus between TTP and TTA, they will say to your face that they have nothing to do with it, but we have solid evidence. All kinds of resources are being supplied to them through our enemy.”

Pakistan maintains that militants of the proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), based in Afghanistan, carry out cross-border attacks and receive support from the Afghan Taliban and India; however, Kabul and New Delhi deny these allegations.

Tensions have persisted between Pakistan and Afghanistan since border clashes in October last year. Although a temporary peace agreement was reached between the two countries through mediation by Doha and Turkey, border crossings remain closed for movement and trade.

Referring to past military operations against militants, the Prime Minister further said: “God willing, just as terrorism was completely eliminated in 2018, I am fully confident that this time too terrorism will be crushed, and they will be uprooted from Pakistan’s borders forever and dumped into the Arabian Sea.”

Calling the National Message of Peace Committee the “most important need of the time,” the Prime Minister said, “The need for national unity and solidarity within the country is greater today than it has ever been before.”

According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in September last year, the committee includes religious scholars, spiritual leaders, representatives of minorities, and senior officials from relevant ministries.

Addressing the scholars and spiritual leaders included in the committee, the Prime Minister said: “The situation is so complex at this time that there is an even greater need for you to sit together and resolve matters collectively.”
