GB election schedule issued after Presidential approval; polling on Jan 24

ISLAMABAD, Dec 12: Following the approval of President Asif Ali Zardari, the election schedule for the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly has been officially issued, with polling set to take place on January 24, 2026.

According to the notification, nomination papers will be submitted on December 15, after which the initial list of candidates will be released on December 23.

The scrutiny of nomination papers will be conducted on December 30, while decisions on appeals will be announced on January 10. The final list of contesting candidates will be published on January 11.

Candidates will be allowed to withdraw their nomination papers until January 12, and election symbols will be allotted on January 13, the notification stated.

Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly comprises a total of 33 seats, including 24 general seats for which elections are held, 6 reserved seats for women, and 3 seats reserved for technocrats.
